| 9.4 | Fitness Tip - Use Competition to Motivate You to Workout |
|
How to motivate yourself to exercise by making it a competition.
|
 | Competition is a motivator. In the heat of competition, you will push yourself harder to perform well. You will also be more motivated to work out if it will help your performance in later competitions. Sign up for sports leagues or local competitions and you will find yourself working out harder and more often.
Competition is fun! People are much more likely to exercise when they are having fun. Boredom is the number one reason why people give up on exercise programs. When exercise is a game, things are constantly changing. This will make it easier to keep it up for the long run. You are much more likely to exercise when others are counting on you. When you are part of a team, you will not want to let your teammates down. You will show up for practices and games.
Sign up for a local basketball league. Join a hiking club. Sign up for a tennis tournament. Get in a 10K run! Go to your local sports club to see what organized sports are offered. You can also check your local health food or athletic store for organized runs and other activities.
