How to use an NLP Swish Patterns to turn things that you fear into things that excite you.

Neuro-Linquistic Programming, or NLP, encompasses a vast toolbox of very powerful techniques that can help you make permanent personal changes. NLP uses how we represent our behavior in our minds to change how we feel about our experiences. If you link feelings of excitement and power with situations that you used to find fearful you change how to represent these experiences. You will find that you now crave the excitement and actually enjoy the experience!

This is an easy switch because fear is so closely related to excitement. Here are the steps for the swish pattern:

1. Pick something that you afraid to do. It may be flying on a play. It may be public speaking. It may be approaching someone that you are attracted to. Make a picture of the situation in your mind. If it is public speaking, imagine yourself in front of an audience about to give a speech.

2. Now imagine that the situation worked out perfectly. It was one of the greatest speeches ever! People are standing and cheering! You were amazing! Feel the excitement! Feel the pride!

3. Now bring the first image back in your mind. See the old image of you in front of an audience. Now take the great, exciting image of the perfect speech and make it small and dim and place it in the lower right corner of the first image.

4. Now, as fast as your can, say “WHOOOOSH!!!!” and make the small, perfect image large and very bright. Have it push the old image totally away. Feel the excitement!

5. Repeat this swish pattern 10 times.

6. Now think about giving a speech. How excited do you feel?

2Slingshot NLP Swish Pattern
You can also do the slingshot variation of the NLP Swish Pattern.

Take the image you want to change, make it big and picture it in between the two posts of the sling shot. Take the good image and pull it back away from you and make it smaller and smaller in the back of the bad image. When it gets as far back as it can, let it go and yell woosh! Have the good image shatter the old image out of your brain.
