How to lose weight and gain muscle by trying the Paleo Diet.
|
 | I usually do not recommend diets or dieting. However, I have been on the Paleo Diet for almost six months and I have had amazing results. I feel comfortable recommending it to everyone.
The Paleo Diet is not technically a “Diet”. You do not restrict your intake of food. You simply change the types of food you eat to be more in tune with how your body works.
The Paleo Diet is based on the philosophy that society and food production technology has advanced at a very rapid rate. Our foods are now processed and delivered to us in a way that does not match with what our bodies expect at a systems level. Changes in technology and food delivery have been occurring for over 10,000 years. However, they have completely changed in the last 100 years. These changes have occurred much faster that our bodies can evolve to handle them. The Paleo Diet looks to the past at how our bodies are supposed to eat and focuses on those foods with some amazing results.
I personally lost 22 pounds on the paleo diet (17 pounds in the first two months). I do a modified version where I go off the diet a bit when I go out with friends on the weekend.
Here are my personal results for the first two months on the Paleo Diet
| Start | 182 pounds | | Week 1 | 180 pounds | | Week 2 | 177 pounds | | Week 3 | 177 pounds | | Week 4 | 172 pounds | | Week 5 | 168 pounds | | Week 6 | 170 pounds | | Week 7 | 167pounds | | Week 8 | 165 pounds |
What Exactly is the Paleo Diet?
The Paleo Diet assumes that our human bodies are genetically set up to be hunter gatherers and that we should eat like hunter gatherers. So what does this mean? In its simplest form, Paleo means no processed foods.
What foods are on the Paleo Diet?
| Vegetables | Vegetables! | Vegetables!! | | Carrots | Cucumber | Lettuce | | Spinach | Lemons | Limes | | Apples | Blueberries | Salsa | | Eggs | Meat | Nuts | | Seeds | Coconut Oil | Nuts | | Almonds | Pecans | Walnuts | | Coconut Milk | Beef Jerky | Olives |
What foods are Not on the Paleo Diet?
Processed foods, dairy, legumes, sugar, and grains.
Why not these foods? They cause problems with the basic systems of our bodies. Grains are an irritant that cause inflammation. Processed foods and sugars cause unnatural fluctuations in our hormone levels (like spikes in insulin). Dairy is very difficult to digest (we have only domesticated the cow for about 6,000 years.) And sorry, peanuts do not count as nuts and they should be avoided along with all other legumes.
Good luck out there!
