How to make it easier to stick to your diet by removing tempting food from your sight.



Humans are visual animals. It is much easier for us to imagine eating a food when we see it. To make it easier to stick to your diet, remove all tempting food from your sight. If you do not see the food, you will be much less likely to crave the food.

Many people suffer from a psychological appetite. They actually do not feel hungry until they see food. Once they see food, the pavlovian reflex kicks in. They begin to salivate and actually feel hungry.

Our refrigerators are actually set up in the least beneficial way when it comes to visual appetites. Our vegetables are hidden away in a drawer at the bottom and the high carb breads and high fat dairy products are at eye level, constantly tempting us.

Try rearranging your refrigerator and cabinets by putting the healthy foods at eye level, making them easier to grab. Take the less healthy foods and put them at the bottom and in the back. Even better, get the unhealthy foods out of your house!

If you struggle with temptations for fast foods, try avoiding them on your routes. If there are fast food places on your way to and from work, take a different route.

Beware of food advertisements on television. If you get hungry when you see ads, make sure not to watch the ads. Even better, stop watching television all together!

1Avoid TV around meal time
Meal time is when the food commercials come on. Avoid Television at this time and you will avoid a lot of the fast food temptations.
