How to improve your confidence level by looking people directly in the eyes.
If you do not look people in the eye, at best you will look unsure and at worst you will appear like you are lying. Looking people in the eye is a characteristic of confidence. As you act confident you will become confident. Consciously think about making eye contact and your confidence will improve.

If your eyes are shifty and always glancing around you look afraid, like there is a threat somewhere close by. If you do this, people will pick up on it subconsciously and you will make them feel threatened and uncomfortable. When you look people in the eye you are showing them that you are not intimidated by them. You are showing strength.

Be careful not to over do it. You do not want to stare people down. Use the initial 3 second rule. Make that first eye contact and hold it for 3 full seconds. As the conversation continues you can glance away but keep eye contact for about 70% of the time. A good trick to use is to look people directly in the eye until you can pick the crayon colon that is closest to the color of their eyes. It may be chestnut, it may be midnight blue or it could be blue gray. To avoid seeming aggressive, make sure that you have a friendly expression on your face when you make eye contact.

Some people really have trouble looking others directly in the eye. This is because it is a natural sign of dominance. You know this subconsciously. This just means that you need some practice. Start out looking into your own eyes in the mirror. Have a friend help you. Practice looking into their eyes. If you still have trouble, try looking between the person’s eyebrows.

1Keep eye contact until they look away
When meeting people you may be interested in, try keeping eye contact until they look away. It draws them in toward you to talk. Just don't have a creepy expression on your face.
