How to keep track of your progress when you start a new workout or diet by keeping a notebook. Download the free Succinct Success Workout and Diet Notebook below.

People remain motivated when they can see the benefits of their work. If the benefit is not clear, your subconscious mind will automatically pull you away from the task. The notebook serves as a great way to track your progress and record the benefit. You can look back and see all that you have done. It builds confidence to see what you are capable of doing.

Write in the notebook when and how you exercised. This keeps track of your progress. It shows how far you have come. It also helps you learn what works and what does not. If you had a great workout, write down why. Did you wake up and do it first thing in the morning? Did you listen to your favorite music? Did you have the healthy food you needed in your house? If you know why you are getting success it is much easier to keep getting success in the future.

If you skipped a workout or diet for some reason, write this in your book. Why did you skip? Did you go out with friends? Did you see a commercial for fast food? Did you sit down on the couch and watch television instead? Remember there are no “failures” there are only “learning experiences”. If you know why you missed that workout you can avoid this problem in the future. If you write it down you are much more likely to remember the problem.

At the end of each week review your notebook. Keep track of what you did right. Keep track of the mistakes you make. Think about what you could do to improve. Look at what works and what does not. Make sure to give yourself congratulations for the good things you did. Smile!

2Diet Notebook Records your hard work
It is nice to look back at your notebook. Wow! Look how much you have done. Look how hard you have worked. It is a great way to know that you have done a great job.

3It is Tough
It is so hard to keep the diet notebook. I usually last until lunch. Just too hard to know how many calories.

4A Diet Notebook helps you to see the damage
It is frightening to see how many calories you really eat!

Writing them down in a diet notebook is a great way to get real. You see the downside of your eating. You see the price you pay and then eating is not so fun anymore.

5Also Try Using a Spending Notebook
Write down everything you spend. It works as well as the diet notebook. I think it is good because you see the costs. When you are dieting and have to write down the calories you see what it is costing you calorie wise and you don't want to do it. Same thing with spending money. When you see and add up everything it is painful!

6Write down Everything
Remember to write down everything in your diet notebook. Even the small bites and "tastes". These can add up quickly. When you make a rule to write down everything you tend not to eat things that are vague...things like "bites" and "tastes". You pass them up rather than spend the time trying to figure out the calories.

7Always keep a pad and pen
I always keep a small pad and pen with me. I note what i eat in there and then transfer the information to my real diet notebook at home.

9Diet Notebook is a Common "Trainer" Technique
The first thing a trainer will tell you or give you is a notebook. Then they will do before pictures and measurements. There is a reason they do this. It really does work.

It is amazing how fast you forget what you ate for the day! Diet notebook is a necessary part of sticking to a diet. Just do it.
