How to create good habits and make it much easier to accomplish the tasks that will allow you to achieve your goals!

Think how easy it would be to accomplish your goals if you were automatically conditioned to achieve them! This is possible! You can train yourself to do the things required to accomplish your goals. You can engrain them into your subconscious and make them part of your daily routine. You will be driven to complete tasks. It becomes just a matter of time until your goals are accomplished.

The first step is to write down your goals. This is the most critical step in accomplishing any goal. A written statement is real. It takes something that you conceive in your mind and brings it into reality. Get it on paper and you are well on your way to accomplishing it.

The next step is to break your goal down into tasks. It may be working on something every day for one hour. It may be studying a certain subject. It may be working out. It may be one of many things that are required to reach your goal. Now that you know what is required you are almost there. You know what you want and you know how to get it.

Now take these tasks and make them habits. Then you will have natural momentum push you towards success.

You create a habit through repetition. The repetition makes the routine sink into your subconscious. You no longer think about the task, you just naturally do it. Studies have shown that it takes about 21 days to create a habit. So, complete the task for 21 days straight or three full weeks. After this time period you will start to crave the activity. You will find yourself feeling incomplete if you skip it. Basically it becomes much easier to complete the task. It has become a habit.

Before a task becomes a habit it may be slightly painful. It may be outside of your comfort zone. The trick is to JUST DO IT! Turn off your conscious mind and get into action. For example, if you want to work out. Just get going. Do it. Do not think about it. If you start to think, start to rationalize, you will talk yourself out of it. So don’t give yourself the chance. START MOVING BEFORE YOU START THINKING. If you stop you will come up with excuses like “I can do it tomorrow” or “I don’t have the right clothes” or “it is too cold”. Winners do not give in to this kind of defeatist talk.

I suggest working on the target task for one hour periods. Studies show that your focus is best for 45 minute periods. One hour works best for me because there is always some overhead involved. You have to get the things you need and get settled. Use 15 minutes for overhead and 45 minutes of total focus for the hour.

It is best to do the task at the same time every day. And do not take a day off! It is always best to do the tasks as early in the morning as possible. This is a time when you will have the fewest distractions and the fewest temptations. Get up as early as possible and get going.

Make sure you reward yourself for completing the task. This signals your brain that the task is worthwhile. That it will give you immediate gratification. To reward yourself, you could put off eating until the task is done. You could give yourself that cup of coffee, but only after you have finished. Make sure to allow yourself to feel good. Give yourself congratulations! Say “great work!” and smile! All these things will link the task to good feelings in your mind and make it more likely that you will continue doing them in the future.

Start with a routine before you do the task. For example, before you work out, jump up and down three times say, “time to go!” and then get straight to work. This routine acts as a trigger and lets your mind know that it is time to work out. Your mind will begin to prime the systems in your body that are required to do the tasks. You are starting up your subconscious mind to help you complete the task. If you need to study for the hour you could start by taking three deep breaths and saying “Time to focus”. So if you have a low energy level, don’t think about the whole task, just start with the priming routine and you will find that it is easier to get going.

The good news is that you can use three weeks of dedication and commitment to create a habit. Once the task is a habit it becomes difficult to break out of it. You will naturally want to continue in your routine and you will be able to achieve maximum results.

The flip side is that you can also create bad habits. It takes the same dedication and focus to break out of them. Think of your bad habits. Are they wasting your time and your energy? You may be wasting your life! Use the next 21 days to snap out of your old bad habits and create some productive habits and you will be able to accomplish anything your heart desires!

Here is a summary of how to create a constructive habit.

1-Write down your goals.
2-Write down the tasks required to reach each goal.
3-Identify the tasks that you want to make into
