How to figure out what area of your life to focus your attention on by finding out where you feel pain or frustration.



You may think that pain and frustration are a bad part of your life. However, they can be very useful! Pain and frustration can be great indicators that a change is needed. They are the signals that your mind uses to push you to take action. Pain can be a great motivator.

Sometimes we forget what is causing our pain and frustration. Some people blame their pain on “life” in general. This is not usually the case. Pay attention to your pain and try to pinpoint the cause. It is a great idea to keep a journal. When you feel pain or frustration, write down the cause. When you know the cause, ask yourself what you can change. Take responsibility for your feelings. How can you improve the situation?

Another way to find the source of your pain is to go over your accomplishments in the major areas of your life. As you do this, think about how you feel. This will give you valuable information about what you need to change and where you need to focus your efforts.

How do you feel about your personal life? Are you happy with it? Do you wish it was different?

How do you feel about your family life? Do you feel any pain when you think about it?

How do you feel about your health? How do you feel about your physical appearance?

How is your monetary situation? Are you meeting your financial goals?

How is your career? Are you where you want to be?

Are you paying attention to your hobbies? What do you do for fun? Are you neglecting this area of your life?

Do you wish that you were more active in your community?

If you are feeling frustrated with your accomplishments in any area, take out a piece of paper and write down some goals. How do you want to improve? What do you want to change? Now that you know what you want to do, get some help. Talk to a professional. Take a class. Get a book. By taking action and making progress, you will instantly make yourself feel better.

2Do Something
When I feel angry or frustrated, I do something! Write a to do list. Make some goals. Just take some sort of action and you start to feel better.
