How to increase your performance by surrounding yourself with pleasant smells at work.
Smell has a huge influence on how we feel. Different scents can influence your mood, attitude, mental alertness and your general performance.

Researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute showed that workers who are exposed to a pleasant sent perform up to 25% better than those who are not exposed to the scent. These workers also had a higher sense of confidence in their performance.

Other studies show that unpleasant smells dramatically decrease performance. Studies have shown that bad smells can double the time it takes to do routine tasks. If you are surrounded by unpleasant smells, do something about it!

One Japanese company uses floral scents to stimulate their workers at the start of each day. Later in the day, they use cedar and other woody smells to relieve tiredness.

Bring some flowers to your office. Take a few minutes every day to relax and enjoy their smell. It may increase your performance at work. It may also encourage others to visit your pleasant smelling office!
