How to be a strong leader by admitting your mistakes.

Admit your mistakes quickly and completely. If you do this, you will disarm everyone that has a complaint.

It is best to admit that you are wrong before other people have a chance to tell you. It shows that you have courage. It proves that you are not blind to your own mistakes. It lets them know that you are honest, flexible and concerned with becoming better. People will follow a leader like this.

Never deflect responsibility and blame someone else. This shows a weakness in character. It shows that you are not in control of the situation and are more interested in your image than in doing what is best.

If someone approaches you with anger about something you did, listen to them. Really try to understand their point of view. If you are sorry, admit you are wrong, learn from your mistake, promise not to do it again and don’t. If people continue attacking you, they are now in the wrong.

By admitting a mistake you are taking responsibility. You are taking control. You are being a good leader. Everyone is wrong at one time or another. The best leaders admit when they are wrong and are able to steer the ship in a new direction.

“A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.” – John C. Maxwell

1If You Don't Admit When You Are Wrong You Seem Incompetent
If you don't admit when you are wrong there are only two possibilities.

1. You do not know that anything is wrong.
2. You are looking to blame someone else.

Both are very bad for moral. It is difficult to follow someone like this.
